Margit Feischmidt is a cultural anthropologist and works as a research fellow at the Research Institute of Ethnic and National Minorities of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. She is also an associate professor at the Department of Communication and Media Studies University of Pecs, Hungary, where she leads the Cultural Anthropology Unit of the Department. She teaches courses related to ethnicity, nationalism, migration and social memory, as well as qualitative methods. She carried out anthropological fieldwork in different sites in Romania and Hungary driven by a theoretical interest on issues related to new normative approaches toward cultural and ethnic difference.
