Hajnalka Harbula has a degree in Hungarian language and ethnology, with post-graduate studies on cultural anthropology, and currently a doctoral student of sociology. She participated in the CEU summer schools "Plight of the Gypsies, the presence of Roma in the educational system" as well as coordinated several projects on the behalf of disadvantaged minority school children, among them Roma and projects for combating discrimination. The topic of her doctoral thesis is anthropology of work and women in Romanian post-industrial areas.
