The Babes-BolyaiUniversity is a public institution of higher education functioning in Cluj, Romania. With 21 faculties, more than 45,500 students and with an experienced teaching staff of 1,700, this university is now an active participant in most of the European and American academic associations. Located in a geographical area of diverse ethnic and religious communities, the University adheres to a policy of multiculturalism. The Centre for Gender Studies is an interdisciplinary institution that coordinates teaching and research across the university in gender studies. Its members are sociologists, anthropologists, psychologists, historians and philosophers committed to policy oriented and action research. The Centre is closely connected to the M.A. program on gender studies and pursues research projects on social inequalities, public policies, Roma women, health, violence, cultural representations, feminist theories and other issues.
