On March 1, on the occasion of 125 years of Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU/Vienna University of Economics and Business), CEU President and Rector Shalini Randeria discussed academic freedom in the talk "Research and Teaching Under Attack?" with Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger, Rector, WU and Bernhard Ehrenzeller, Rector, University of St. Gallen. The discussion was moderated by Michael Köttritsch, Head of the Management and Career and Editorial Training Department at the newspaper "Die Presse".
Enabling critical discourse is an integral part of every university. At the same time, universities oppose exclusion, insults, discrimination, populist and polemical arguments. In this talk, panelists discussed discourse capabilities of academic institutions and evaluated when it is legitimate for universities to draw the line.The event was organized by WU in cooperation with the University of St. Gallen.
